Optimal Design of LP and HP Digital IIR Filter using Group Search Optimization Algorithm
Animal search behavior and group living based global optimization technique namely group search optimization
(GSO) algorithm, is applied in this paper in order to optimize the magnitude response of low pass (LP) and high pass (HP)
infinite impulse response (IIR) digital filter. The optimized filter coefficients of LP and HP filter are obtained with GSO in
order to achieve minimum magnitude response error along with reduced pass band and stop band ripples with guaranteed
stability. The obtained results are compared to those obtained by the well known evolutionary algorithms. The comparison of
results reveals that the proposed GSO algorithm performs better for the multimodal design problem of digital IIR filter.
