In The Search of a Linguistic Model for Automatic Generalization Recognition in Media Texts

Abstract
The article defines the concept of generalization, analyzes generalization in the texts of the media and searches for a linguistic model for its recognition. There are studies that view generalization as a sign of bias or as an ideological strategy influencing readers' opinions. However, any studies for automatic recognition of generalization in texts havenā€˜t been found. An annotation scheme on the basis of which linguistic rules have been identified for manual generalization detection and its automatic recognition in texts is proposed. A generalization detection experiment in the texts of official media has been carried out using the rules.
