Paper Title
Simplified Kannada Keyboard for Efficient Word Prediction in Science Dictionary
Abstract
In addition to accessing the Internet, current-generation cellular phones feature multi-functional capabilities such
as imaging, video, audio recording, and texting. There is a widespread movement in Karnataka to improve the use of native
Kannada language in all aspects of life. One of the most important strategies for increasing Kannada language usage is to
make hand-held devices with Kannada language interfaces available to the majority of people in rural areas. We attempt to
design applications using free and open-source software. The development of the Kannada interface is outlined in the article,
which includes a study of Kannada‟s literal representation in Unicode. A virtual keyboard for Kannada literals is being
created, and the demo of the keyboard helps the user to use this application effortlessly. There is a widespread push in
Karnataka to use the keyboard in the native language. Their implementation and specification details are discussed. A
prototype application in the Kannada language is being created for a community. The convenience and efficiency of text
input are determined by the arrangement of letters on a keyboard. The keyboard layout can have an even bigger impact on
effective data entry for devices with limited space. Many strategies for optimizing alphabet keyboards have been proposed,
including those for compact devices. The high number of letters in other alphabet systems, on the other hand, complicates
the challenge. This project looks into ways to make Kannada keyboards smaller while maintaining an optimum layout. We
propose using machine learning techniques such as the genetic algorithm to produce optimal soft keyboards for mobile
phones to help with this.
