Paper Title
Service Optimization through Design and Development of Automated System Software with Integrated SMS Texting (Assist) for Community Cooperative
Abstract
Technology advancement provides a wide range of mechanisms which small businesses can use to lead their
organization to success. Advances in computer, network and communications technology aid the business industry in
revolutionizing the way they are doing business and deals with their clients. Development of an automated system is one of
these technology products that the community cooperatives in the Philippines may take full advantage of. The province of
Bulacan, where there are number of community cooperatives, has seen the full potential of developing automated system to
optimize the services they are offering. Hence, the researcher conducted this study to primarily help community
cooperatives enhance their manual systems. SMS notification for various members’ transactions is integrated in the system.
The design and development of the community cooperative automated system was based on Rapid Application Development
(RAD) model encompassing several stages: analysis and design stage; iterative stage which involved prototype cycles;
testing stage and lastly, the deployment stage. Several software evaluation criteria were considered in testing the
acceptability of the system which was essentially based on ISO 9126 software quality standards. The system was evaluated
in terms of functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability and portability. Pool of software development
experts and the intended users were commissioned to evaluate the system. Both have perceived that the developed
automated system is acceptable and suitable considering the significant features integrated in it.
